I thought it was about time to pick up another hobby for the upcoming months. Seeing as the days are getting shorter and the weather, cooler (and honestly I’m finding it tough to keep myself from hibernating in my pjs every evening), there is nothing better than some good old fashioned cookin’! Now, if you are looking for an amazing cooking course in Toronto, then you gotta check out George Brown Culinary Arts. George Brown has THE best (in my opinion) chef teachers and course options and not to mention you get to take home a boat load of delicious food at the end of each class.
Now I bet you are asking yourself why is this Realtor sharing this info with me on her real estate blog – the answer is simple! I write about what I enjoy and I enjoy these classes! Surprising there isn’t much info on these course online so I figured I’d document the classes as I go and share my journey with you for anyone else who also may be interested in learning more.
I’m no Julia Child, (although my husband wishes I were) but years ago I took two courses at George Brown and really enjoyed them – Culinary Arts 1 and Culinary Arts II. Culinary Arts I is a prerequisite for any other class so you have take this one before getting into the specialized courses. It’s a great class none the less, especially if you were like me and scrambled eggs was your piece de resistance. Basically we learnt how to make stocks and soups, lasagna and pasta, and a few meat and fish dishes but the idea was to get a good grasp on the cooking basics and basic knife skills.
After Culinary I, I moved on to Culinary Arts II – also a great class which just expanded on the first course. And finally here comes the fun stuff – the specialized courses! George Brown has a whole list of specialized courses so choosing was really, REALLY difficult. I may be in this for the long haul 🙂
